Archived from the IMDb Discussion Forums — Jeff Bezos

    cmashieldscapting — 9 years ago(February 14, 2017 12:50 AM)

Julius Caesar destroyed the Library at Alexandria, Emperor Nero burned Rome, the Nazis burned so many books that after the war Germany had to go begging to other countries to build a national library, but at least those despots sacked and looted the creations of others. You, on the other hand, willingly set a match to your one great contribution to human culture, the thing for which you could have been lovingly remembered. If you close the Internet Movie Database Message Boards you will be not remembered at
    all
, or only as 5b4a terrible example of someone making one of the poorest decisions in history, a process of thought and action indistinguishable from insanity. What could you possibly hope to gain by heartlessly rendering millions of people miserable through the thoughtless and wanton ruining of such a beautiful, valuable, educational, entertaining, and unique resource as the Internet Movie Database Message Boards? Are you too everlastingly cheap to pay computer geeks to make a few updates, and employ paid or even volunteer moderators like any other normal sites with message boards? Hope whatever blood money you received for this destructive vandalism is worth it.
Some people are discussing and even creating alternate boards, and once they do naturally
    no one
    will
    ever
    have
    any
excuse to look at your sad tired miserable rundown little excuse for a website ever again. The trouble is, trying to reconstruct the vast amount of contributions amassed over nearly thirty years on IMDb is pretty much like blowing up the Library of Congress, then trying to reconstruct its contents by picking up shreds of burned confetti out of the street. Better than nothing, but not by much.
    WHAT IN THE HELL IS
    WRONG
    WITH YOU?
I don't know how some people ever sleep. If you go through with this may you never make another dime as long as you live and may you languish in a gutter and expire on the scrap heap of so16d0ld-out, burned-out, soulless humanity. Not only will we be boycotting Internet Movie Database, we will never buy from Amazon.com as long as this remains in effect.
(Addressed to Col Needham, but also applicable to Jeff Bezos or whoever else allows this travesty to take place.)
