Archived from the IMDb Discussion Forums — Scott Mills

    af1987 — 19 years ago(January 25, 2007 12:07 PM)

Just wondering what everybody thinks of Radio 1, Dj's in particular.
Chris Moyles - Can be funny, can be annoying. His voice is so hard to listen to if, like me, u're alarm clock brings the radio on a 7 o'clock every morning! His show would be nowhere near as funny without his team.
Jo Whiley - Sexy voice, but too boring and predictable to listen to an enjoy! It's good she's always campaigning for new, live music, but she can get annoying and self righteous after a while!
Edith Bowman - Really like her show, she plays good music, her voice is easy to listen to, and has good on air dialogue. Second best show on Radio 1!
Scott Mills - The best DJ and show on Radio 1! Has a really good voice, is very very funny in both his conversations and on-air games/segments, and gets the right mix between conversation and music on his show! His hda0umour is like immature, fun humour which works really well for him, unlike the humour of Chris Moyles. I got into Radio 1 through listening to his show, and i doubt i'd listen to Radio 1 if he wasn't on! Chappers and Laura are also quite entertaining and they all work well together, all in all an extremely good show!
Fearne and Reggie - Have nothing against them really, but they can get quite annoying when you're lying in bed at 7 O'clock on a weekend morning.
    Vernon Kay - Probably my third favuorite after Scott & Edith; he's funny, has good dialogue, good music, and his show is just easy to listen to. He shout's a lot, but his Bolton accent doesn't bother me at all, unlike;
Sara Cox - Her voice can grind on me after a while, doesn't really get away with a Bolton accent as well as Vernon. She seems alright, but i wouldn't feel obliged to turn Radio 1 on if i knew she was on.
Trevor Nelson - Good DJ, good voice, good music and good dialogue. perfect show for a late Saturday afternoon.
Others i don't mind listening to are Zane Lowe (not overlykeen on the music) and Colin Murray (has an alright voice and seems quite funny).

Colin Murray on a night is great listening, every night during the week is different with various nightly themes and audience participation.
hes funny and the show is kept fresh, and the music is good also, hes in the perfect place for him to shine rather than being kept in the shackles of daytime which when he talks about his old position you can understand he is at his best on late nights
Scott is Jesus, and Molyes is the Holy Ghost on each side of Howard Stern, Radio God and the founder of what Scott & Moyles are doing right now, he was doing their show 25 years ago.
im pretty sure Moyles has listened to or has a good knowledge of Stern because i can hear things which reference or mirror what Stern has done and (the first 4 Stern has highlighted as a factor in his path to the top, his beefs with other Radio Personalities, Dr. Fox and Johnny Vaughn etc, his arguments about management of BBC, talk of ratings and meglomania and getting the audience involved in that, pushing the line or limit as far back as possible and almost but not crossing it, burping into the mike and some games etc). he hasnt thieved but you can hear it in his shows from time to time more than anyone else ive ever heard, i think he likens himself to the Howard Stern and the badboy of British radio
Sarah Cox is annoying, talks crap, goes off on incoherent rambling tangents and after the first few years of newness in her breakfast years seemed to get found out and got tiresome very quickly
Zane Lowe is good listening if you like the music but thats what his shows about, the best new music. hes about 5 maybe a few more years off becoming a legend
Special mention to Annnie Mac and alot of the nightime staff
Westwood is a legend if you like the music, which i dont right now but did and listened every week
And the new guy on early breakfast Greg James is quite good and up and coming to replace one of the big guns. he reminds me of Scott when he was on early breakfast, although not quite as essential listening
He's made the lowly early breakfast spot his own after many many personnel changes since Scott got promoted, but saying early breakfast is lowly we know that the stars like Scott & Moyles have come from there after conquering the audience and making an impact. i also remember Scotts saturday show and that was awesome radio to
