Archived from the IMDb Discussion Forums — Jennifer Hudson

In a recent interview she claims Whitney came to her and said she was passing her the torch because she was the one. I'm not sure I believe that. Clive spent a lot of money trying to make Jennifer the next WH but it didn't work. She doesn't have the grace, class, beauty, or even voice to pull it off. Jennifer's voice is loud and powerful not beautiful at all. I'm not saying she can't sing; but Whitney's talent was much more than being able to hit those big notes. She could do anything with her voice and sing any genre and make you believe it. Whitney had the whole package; there is no artist out right now even close to her level. #noshade

OMGI agree. Jennifer has nothing but a LOUD voice. And, she doesn't even speak English properly. She sounds like a streetgirl from Cabrini Green. She is so f'ing full of herself, as I watch her on Steve Harvey now. She is DISGUSTING. She's a loud singer, and a loud, dumb , egotistical conversationalist..can not stand her.
And comparing herself to WHITNEY HOUSTON??????
      Puuuhhhlease.

Talk about sounding like a street person, how about Beyonce? With all her money she should get diction lessons. Thats why on most of the commercials she does they have someone else do the voice over.

Not even close to Whitney, not even close.
She screams not sings, her voice is harsh.

No slight to Jennifer because I actually like JHud. But, there has been "the next Whitney Houston" for years. Deborah Cox, Wendy Moten, 16d0Brandy (her words) and Leona Lewis have all been compared to or called the next Whitney. I'm a huge fan of the first two and I like the other two, but none of them came close. Wendy Moten has the best voice of that bunch and Deborah Cox can really sing too. But like stated above none of them had the complete package like Whitney did.
In my opinion the closest we got to Whitney was Mariah (great voice, and versatile songs) and Celine (great voice and great stage presence). Still as great as those two were and are, they didn't have all the gifts that Whitney did.

You spoke volumes with that last sentence. Mariah and Celine are great talents, but Whitney was the 8th wonder of the world. I remember Oprah telling her in that epic interview "you were different from the others". So true.
