I agree. I just started watching him on Kitchen Nightmares and I have a lot of respect for him. He's not a mean person. He has high standards and he only yells at people who are incompetent or lazy. He's nice to people who cook well, who are hard workers, and who earn his respect. He does deserve his success.

I'm extremely happy to see that you guys feel that way. I absolutely love GR, because, unlike most big celebrities, he is still true to his roots.
When you're such a big name, the media spotlight is on you, so OF COURSE they will find something wrong with you. I like to think I'm a really good person, I volunteer at a convalescence, and I give to charity, always donate blood and bone marrow etc. But if there were people constantly following me with cameras trying to get dirt on me, they would absolutely find some dirt immediately.
We're all human after all with our own imperfections. I just think GR is a perfectionist that suffers from low self-esteem because of his dad's abandoning him and mistreating his mother.
The only thing I don't like about the guy is that he is NEVER at home with his wife and four kids, that's not something I would appreciate at his kid, and I can't imagine how his wife puts up with it. The guy is such a huge workaholic, he should just relax, he's already recognized by many as one of the greatest chefs in the world. Give it a rest, go raise your kids, lol

Having watched his shows for about 6 years, I've gotten to know him and I think I understand him really well. I think he gets a bad wrap from the media sometimes. I see no problem with the way he acts usually, because like me, he just has a low tolerance for idiots. And idiots don't know they're idiots, so of course they will get defensive and think Gordon is just mean and picking on them. Some people get him, and are on the same page, but some people always have their own agenda.

He's a motion and a cocky sob. I'm surprised that this guy has kids must be devorced by now who in their right mind would put up with his crap? He's one of these people who's married to his job. And may i add the one thing that these so called professional chefs.. that's it's mandidtory to wear gloves when in the food service.

No, it's not at all mandatory. In fact, it's worse to wear gloves because many people think it's a suitable substitution for frequent hand washing - which IS mandatory - or put on one pair of gloves and wear them through dirty tasks. I'd sooner have my staff use bare, clean hands than gloves. In the US, laws in each state are different, but most of them are along the lines of "ready to eat," meaning anything that will not undergo a heating process must be handled with gloves, but you still have to wash your hands and dispose the gloves afterward. In the end, I'll trust washed hands over dirty gloves.

He is awesome
He is a winner, made it to Glasgow Rangers when he was only 16 but suffered 2 knee injuries, took off to learn cooking when he was only 18. He has been awarded the best chef in UK 9 times. He is just pure awesomeness
And he is funny as hell too.
