A new rumor from industry insider Daniel Richtman (via World of Reel) states that Marvel may be eyeing Peele to direct a mystery project. There is no official word on what the project is, but given the director's past in social commentary horror, much of the speculation centers on the genre. Marvel saw Peele as a potential director for Blade and X-Men, which aligns with his talents and his ability to weave real-world sentiments into dark, thematically driven films.
As the MCU struggles to get the Blade reboot off the ground, Marvel may be returning to Peele in hopes that he can be the final piece needed to make the movie. The Nope director has also been speculated to be a choice for a Midnight Sons project, which features a team of darker anti-heroes, with characters like Blade, Ghost Rider, and even Doctor Strange able to find a place to thrive. With Marvel moving forward on plans for a sequel to Werewolf by Night, it could open the door for what Peele could potentially work on in the MCU. However, since the director's involvement in the MCU is still a rumor, further confirmation will be needed.
