I have never been so heartbroken for someone I have never met. Funny thing is, I feel like I know her and she knew me. Back in 1979 I was a freshman in high school. I still remember the first time I heard Teena. I was blown away. The more I listened the more she captivated me. I would lie on my bed in the dark and just listen to her. It felt as if she sang to me and no one else. When happy, sad, or lost I would play her songs and she helped and guided me like no other person ever did. There hasn't been a week that has gone by in the last thirty years that I haven't listened to her. When I introduced her to my wife I felt as if I was introducing a close friend. I wanted her to love Teena as much as I did. When I was married she was there. When my father died she was there. I feel absolutely devastated. I just can't imagine how her family must feel. Teena, I don't what I will do without you making music for us. I will keep listening until my last day. I love you Teena.
