curious to me - she seemed to really stand out in her SPN eps - apparently almost zero interest in acting - which does happen: endless pointless cattle calls, etc

Yes, I too thought she stood out in her episodes of SPN. I know it might not be a popular opinion, but I quite liked her first episode she appeared in titled 'Bitten'. Yes, the 'found footage' episode thing has been flogged within an inch of its life by this point, but considering I'd grown sick and tired/bored of the whole show (including the boys themselves) quite some time before, 'Bitten' was a nice change-up to proceedings and gave us a breather from what I'd found to be the dull and dreary 'same old, same old' feeling the show had been having for quite a few seasons. I also really liked the character of Kate and was shocked/delighted that she survived the episode (considering just about every single other female character I'd liked had been offed). I especially appreciated the not-done-before, I think, ending with the credits playing over her walking off into the sunset along the railway tracks. I was quite surprised by that, but enjoyed it nonetheless.
I'd breathed a sigh of a relief that a female character I'd liked in the show had managed to escape unscathed. Then there came her second episode and I'd thought for sure she would not be making it out of that one alive. I won't get into the issue of the boys and their 'she's a monster, she has to die' attitude and how it conflicts with all the times they've made exceptions to this rule of theirs, but as pleased as I was to see her get away from them for a second time (I'd been pretty tense about her surviving right until the end, thinking that something would happen at the last possible minute to her), it is now just a question of 'when' rather than 'if' the show brings her back simply to off her, as I've no doubt they will (after all, they've brought back so many other female characters I've been a fan of just to off them - two prime examples being Sarah Blake and Tessa the Reaper. I'm beyond shocked Lisa Braeden managed to remain alive - although it was a pretty close call in her last ep as to whether she would or not. I'm sure now that her son is probably old enough, the show feels they can off her while not having to worry about him being without a mother - I'm expecting this to happen in some future episode, whether it be offscreen or not).
