My name is Steven Hawkins. I am a Freelance writer from Greenville SC. There were a Few famous, Notable people that I have met coming up in Greenville and Detroit before I was recognized for writing Editorials for Newspapers and getting on many radio and TV stations in Greenville and Upstate South Carolina. One person I met was Poet Glenis Redmond. I met her back in 1998 at the Greenville Poetry Slam when she first started her career. Another person I met was SC State Senator Theo Mitchell back in 2014 at a Funeral I attended at Allen Temple AME church here in Greenville. Mitchell ran for South Carolina governor against Republican Carroll Campbell in 1990 but lost. A third person I met was WSPA anchor Pamela Graham. Miss Pamela Graham anchored WSPA Spartanburg during the 1980s and 90s. I met Miss Graham when I attended Sevier Middle school back in 1992 at a school assembly.
A Fourth Famous person I ever met was Moody Black. He hosts the Wits End Poetry Slam in downtown Greenville at Coffee Underground that came after the original Greenville Poetry Slam founded by Glenis Redmond.
And a Fifth Famous person I got a chance to meet was Greenville Technical College Former President the Late Dr. Thomas Barton when I attended college back in 1998. Dr Barton came to meet the Students registering for classes in the Start of Fall 1998. A Sixth and Seventh person I met was Former Detroit Mayor Dennis Archer and his wife Trudy and Former US Congressman from District of Columbia Walter Fauntroy. I met those Two politicians at the Funeral of my mother's cousin Reverend Howard Fauntroy in Detroit back in 1997. And an Eighth famous person I met was my High School Drama teacher Miss Nancy Whitaker. Miss Whitaker was Named WB 1995 National Drama Teacher of the year. I also met Two people I went to school with way Back when Before they Became Rich and famous. PGA Golfer Lucas Glover attended Wade Hampton High school with me Back in the year 1996. Glover won the 2009 US Open championship. Also National Desk anchor Jan Jeffcoat also attended Wade Hampton High school with me back in 1995, and even had Miss Christine Hallett's Strings Music class with me. She went on to act in several Television series including "This is Us" on NBC, "911" on Fox, as well as Netflix's "What if."
