    Archived from the IMDb Discussion Forums — Gwendoline Yeo

    "Yeo! Yeo! Yeo!"
    haha, that's cute. But I think it would be kind of weird saying that, though. Imagine calling out Gwendoline as she is walking down the street, "YEO! YEO! YEO!" It would be very weird, imo. Although it looks cute when you type it though. >>;

      its actually kind of rude. my surname is Yeo as well, and i had that thrown at me, like "YeoYEoYEo Whats up!" or YeoYeo Ball, which is all fair game growing up, sure, but its really disrespectful, because Yeo is the family name, and in Asian families it relates to the oldest person known to you. That means a direct insult, similar to making fun of a grandfather or great grandfather.
      i think in western societies, there is a individualised or seperatist take on family relations, where your name is your own, but for asians, the way the respect is structured in a family, you are always linked to your elders, and there is nothing more rude, or irritating, than someone messing with your family name, or surname.
      hope that helps!
