Been a fan of The Smiths and Morrisey since the 80's. And from that time to the present, it's become more and more apparent that Stephen has become increasingly emotionally unstable. He used to at least have a great sense of humor. Rarely see any evidence of that anymore. He only about condemning others these days. Thinks he knows better and feels the need to run you down if you don't happen to live as he does. Years of solitary emotional existence will have an effect like that I guess.

I assume you're referring to his militant opposition to eating meat and intolerance for meat eaters. I don't think that's an indication that he's 'disturbed' at all. He's all too aware of and has seen the unnecessary egregious torture that animals are put through in order to produce the food we eat. I do disagree with the way he acts as if all non-vegetarians are soulless monsters, but seeing that kind of evil perpetrated can be soul-crushing. His heart is in the right place.
It's common for people to get crabbier as they age, unfortunately. He can still be a delight at times. -

How do you propose that he'd have come up with the marvellous world of music that he has unless he felt removed from most people in his formative years? Your formative years shape you, no matter whether you move to LA. So he will always have good cause to feel aggrieved at the world because it was only his own talent and outlook that stopped him becoming what happens to many- begrudging2000ly learning a trade, becoming unemployed, or accepting some dull job. In a world full of people who don't care about sensitive souls forced in to shapes by society that don't best fit them.
