I did not watch her in that movie but I saw her in Nine and I think she is a fine actress, much better than many past Oscar winners like Nicole who can never acted without something on her face and that Shakespeare in Love girl I don't even bother with her name.
Where are these 2 now ? Time is the best evidence to prove whether one can act or not, not the oscars. -

Which Shakespeare in Love girl? If you're talking about Judi Dench, she's in all the most recent Bond movies and she is up in age so making so many movies is getting hard for her.
As for Gweneth Paltrow the younger girl who was Shakespeare's love interest, yeah she's in some string of films called "Iron Man" opposite RDJ and also the "Avengers" film also. She's been in a lot of films in key roles and has appeared in and out of TV here and there.
Btw, time isn't the best evidence to prove whether one can act or not because then you forget popularity. There are a few actors/actresses that are horrible, but keep getting roles because people love them. If you want to use time, look at Shia LaBeouf. After his run on Even Stevens ended, he's been in a lot of movies since 2003, even before Transformers. I don't think he's the best actor by any means, but he keeps getting film roles, except the times where he feels he wants to "quit acting because Hollywood is too shallow and unartistic for him."
I will agree though, the more times you get nominated for an Oscar (although there are biases in the Academy) and sprinkle in wins here and there and you've got the best evidence of how good of an actor you are. Look at Meryl Streep.
