Archived from the IMDb Discussion Forums — Anton Yelchin

    saltnurwound — 9 years ago(July 29, 2016 12:10 PM)

This kid had it. Unlike Shia LaBeouf, I never heard a bad word about him. (I only contrast the two based on their coming of age)
Anton Yelchin made me enjoy a movie just because he was in it.
His untimely demise will always resonate in my memories because he seemed like such a good kid, and unbelievable talent that was stolen from the world in yet another accident where companies put a few human deaths in their business model.
We must never allow companies to human life below dividends for big shot shareholders.
Safety matters. Believe me. I've been thirty stories in the air caulking granite joints, and thanks to the (sometimes annoying) tenacity of OSHA, I was tied off per rules and had almost zero chance of falling. We need to expect this from all our companies or people need to go to jail. Massive fines are paid for by the company. Only a humiliating strip search and loss of self will teach these penthouse A-holes that other lives matter.

I know. This one really bothers me too. Seemed such a sweet kid, not to mention talented. I wish I could stop thinking about it 😞

            Very unusual death I'm shocked.

I just found out what happened and I'm deeply sad. I don't really follow much of what goes on in actors private lifes so I could be wrong, but he seemed like a sweet, grounded young man. I first remember him playing Kyle Reese and he completely nailed that role, he seemed to genuinely love his job and tried to be as true to the original played by Michael Biehn as possible. I tend to be rather empathetic and got a really nice vibe from him (unlike Shia, whom I've disliked instinctively from the beginning). May he rest in peace and I hope his loved ones can find a way to cope with such loss.
Of course, you're right: safety should always matter. Let's hope this tragic accident can prevent such a terrible thing from happening to others.

Well, he, Paul Walker, and Robin Williams, have all been very hard for me to deal with. Despite not knowing them personally, I really loved them all.

                  Agree OP.
I live in LA and not too far from where he lived.
When he died to be honest I didn't know who he was, but found it very tragic.
I just saw him in "Rudderless", you are so right.
This kid had "it", a natural born actor.
Can go back and forth between being comical and than being serious and getting to you, with total ease, that's what you call talent.
