Archived from the IMDb Discussion Forums — Peter Wyngarde

To an ignorant American eye seeing "Jason King"1c84 for the first time with no foreknowledge beyond stumbling over mention of the series when scouting '60s euro spy flicks on IMDB,
PW is delivering a Peter O'Toole impression.
I know from a brief trip to the UK that there is a broad and varied range of regional character there that makes US seem highly homogenized.
To anyone unfamiliar with this diction diversity, I refer you to the movie "Anita & Me" (2002).
I suggest you turn on the subtitles or risk unintelligibility.
What is the UK origin of JK inflection & ultra-gentility ?
Sure, it's arch & fey, and implies class aristocracy, though not
the world weary height of old money like Rupert Everett in "B Monkey",
but where would someone who spoke like this &/or looked like this be expected to come from geographically ?
    Is this Etonian ? Oxford ? Cambridge ? Cornish ? Breton ?
If London, what district of the city would they reside or work in ?

I am Canadian and I saw him in an episode of Doctor Who and thought he was Peter O'Toole, too. He could easily be a doppleganger.

I saw him in the "Hellfire Club" episode of THE AVENGERS and at first thought he was O'Toole, too, although I pretty much knew O'Toole was not doing tv serie at that point in his career.
