I'm curious, I've read the rumour about Jane Wyman not allowing a gay storyline on "Falcon Crest". Being gay myself, I'm curious to know if this rumour has ever been confirmed to be true? I'd hate to think Jane Wyman wa5b4s homophobic. 🙂
For the record, I don't judge people from hearing a rumour, so I thought I'd ask if Jane has ever spoken about homosexuality in interviews ect. Thanks for your help!

Yes, reportedly she had the producers drop a planned lesbian storyline between two minor characters because it clashed with her Catholic beliefs.
So yes, in my opinion, she may have been a homophobe. The storyline didn't involve her character.
But it was the 80s. She could have also been worried that such a risky storyline could have tanked the show. According to trivia I've read though, it was for the religious reason.

All I can add is that I'm gay and she was always very nice to me.

I doubt it was that big of a deal with her, she was the best of friends with Michael Feinstein and his partner Terrence. Whenever they were in the Palm Springs area they would visit her, Michael Feinstein would play her piano and they would sing together.

It's not homophobia. Homosexuality clashes with religious beliefs. You shouldn't dislike her because of it. Unless of course she was unkind to the those within homosexual community. That wouldn't be very Christian. I'm religious and I don't approve of homosexuality but I have many gay friends that I love dearly. Not everyone is going to agree with each other. Doesn't mean they're not good people.
