Miss Wyman who had been married and divorced 5 times was buried in her Franciscan nun habit of which she had been a member since her last husband Fred Karger died in 1979 age 63. Wyman and Karger were married and divorced twice from 1952-1954 and the second Karger marriage lasted 1961-1965 when Karger divorced Wyman. Ronald Reagan was in my opinion the big love of Jane Wyman's life. That was probably the reason she didn't talk about him during his lifetime. After his death she. released a statement that "America has lost a fine president and a kind and gentle man." Early in his alsheimers Ronnie asked Nancy to call Jane before releasing his death so she wouldn't hear it in the media. Nancy did this. About a year before Ronnie died and a couple years after Maureen's death Nancy called Jane to discuss Reagan family matters and also asked Jane Wyman to come visit her former husband. Word has it that Nancy left the residence while Jane was there visiting Ron for the last time. This was very kind on Nancy's part who in the end had gotten cordial with Jane Wyman after Mermie's death. Of course they could never have been best friends but they had come to an understanding as far as Ron was concerned. The first Mrs. Reagan attended the California services for her former husband then went back into seclusion as she was in poor health though her mind was still sharp as a tack. Sadly both Nancy and Jane developed mild dementia shortly before their deaths in 2007 and 2016.
