I would think because the movie really started later in her life and they just skimmed over her childhood in the movie.

They did actually, very briefly. The narration stated something along the lines of, "I must've been thirteen at the time, because I had just put the baby up for adoption."
That was the only mention of it.

Actually, she was thirteen at the time and he was given up for adoption. She didn't name him so the adoptive family chose his first and last name and I don't think Aileen ever had any contact with the family thereafter. Not surprisingly by any means, they have never came forward to claim they have Aileen Wuornos's child.

In those days, it was common practice to seal birth records so it's possible the son never knew who his real mother was.
