Check him out in Episode 3 & 4 of the highly2000 acclaimed series "Jewel In The Crown". He plays a British Raj soldier with a fabulous cynical, enigmatic personality, who with brutal frankness and a smooth intelligence seduces Geraldine James into losing her virgunity. The man has so much charisma, he should have been a frontrunner in the leading man stakes. I tell ya, the wrong men get lead roles in the movie industry.
"Jewel in The Crown" is now available on DVD and the quality is terrific.

I agree - he was excellent in Jewel, & is excellent in most things I've seen him in. A much underrated & under used British actor, & why he's never had leading man roles is beyond me.

Don't know why a colorful life (see bio) should've worried anyone. Many of the best actors and politicians are pretty darned colorful.
