It's a very good album, a bit samey for some people to enjoy but that says more about the experimentations that the top bands made in the 70s, 80s, 90s than it does about how good the work was at the time. It helps to have a kind of unreconstructed 1960s goofy outlook to enjoy it. Not that the album's seriousness is goofy but it helps to have an innocently joyous yet melancholic mind, like before the fun of the 1960s morphed in to the less optimistic 1970s. Many people say that the second 'suite' is their favourite part. I still go for the third part because it's the most fun in my opinion.

These bits of mine haven't been edited out (yet):
"It seems chronological, moving from early America through the Victorian era and ending with Hawaii, which in terms of American statehood was still a very new state for 1966. In subsequent interviews to promote the album, Brian has concentrated on the happy, humorous qualities of the music, which are evident. Lyricist Parks has said that Brian has a "cartoon consciousness."
"Good Vibrations" broadly goes through three distinct phases, as the album does".
