SAME! Divorce is never a good thing, but I'd be lying if I said I wasn't secretly pleased. Unnaturally excited even. I can't help it, I've had the longest crush on him. Finally, I can have explicit fantasies about him without thinking "It's a shame he's married." Argh I wish so bad I could date the guy! Sigh.

People have been quick to speculate for years now that their marriage is on the rocks because of the no kid factor.
Terrible time for both of them; hope they tried to work it out. Jaime and Tom seem like really nice people. Wish them the best. -

Sad Sad Sad. I remember how private both of them were so this must suck that it is all over the gossip sites. I remember hearing an interview with them after Smallville ended and they both were looking forward to having kids. Divorce always sucks, especially after such a long time.

On Entertainment Lawyer this past 4/10/14

the following blind was posted:
This former A list mostly television actor who was on a hit almost network show forever was married almost as long. His affair during shooting with this C+ list mostly television actress who is known for her name and for one great role in an even better movie that I saw about 100 times back in the day ended his marriage. The relationship with the actress didn't last either and our actor has seemed out of sorts while promoting his latest movie.
1st-'almost network' IS THE
CW
which most of you know SMALLVILLE was onand he would have been considered A list when on it (but, since doing basically nothing since. no longer A list..)
Most of the GUESSES?
Actor: Tom Welling
Show: "Smallville"
Latest movie: "Draft Day"
C+ actress:
Great role:
Now, Tom had been the Executive Producer for HELLCATS which starred ASHLEY TISDALE..definitely C+ and she was in HighSchool Musical.. but.. seeing that 100 TIMES?? AND BETTER??? UHM
Another guess was JENNIFER GREY (crappying in sitcoms, but had DIRTY DANCING.. ) WHICH I have seen probably 100 times, but, PLEEEEEASE.. no, TOM AND GREY??? noooooo!!!!
Besides.. Welling's wife separated from him for 10 months before filing for divorce according to 1 poster (above) and if THAT is right, the ET post is wrong.
I did ALWAYS wonder, if he and his wife MARRIED r111cight when SMALLVILLE STARTED IN 2002.. why the quote -we are waiting for the show to end for kids? (she was born in 1975-2 years OLDER then him! making her 39 NOW-After all, there is a big difference whether the star of the show is MALE OR FEMALE-Welling's wife was(is) a model-like he was before acting that is how they met
AND it seems at least for some of the seasons.. she DID NOT JOIN HIM IN THE VANCOUVER, BC area for filming SMALLVILLE! (found that WEIRD.. especially in the beginning of the marriage.. don't know if she was working..)
Yes he was a private person, but when I saw pics of him outside of the show, RARELY was she with him SAD.. it seemed like they (and this is me speculating a lot) 2 separate lives
NOW.. if they were really waiting for the show to end to have kids and there was a problem.. the show ended in 2010? 2011? You have fertility clinics and adoption..
ALL SPECULAITON.. we are not the WELLINGS.. TOM made a great salary on SMALLVILLE did not live LIKE PARIS HILTON AND OTHERS so , he probably has a good bank account, so SHE will walk away with a NICE SETTLEMENT -

Smallville is in syndication so Tom probably gets of percentage everytime the show comes on tv. He's promoting Parkland and another movie after that. I don't think money may is the reason for the split. Seems like they were doing they're own separate things more than being together.

I also doubt it has anything to do with money. He'd brought home steady paychecks of $175K per Smallville episode so he's worth at least tens of millions. And given that that they lived a pretty private life, I can't see them burning money on a regular basis. Divorces are complicated but I doubt it was money that played a huge factor in their eventual rift.

I felt as if dear friends told me they were getting divorced. I was one of those rooting for this couple. I was hoping they would continue in their marriage and make it stronger. Still would love to see that they decided not to throw away 15 years together. Whatever the reason, wish them the best separate, but hoping secretly for a reconciliation. Has to be hard on their families as well.

She's probably just sick of never getting to be the pretty one in the relationship. Dating a stupidly gorgeous man can be hard on the ego.
Kidding, obviously. Your speculation is silly; this happens more often than not. Fail is what romantic relationships do, almost inevitably. These two had a longer run than most, so kudos to them, and since they couldn't be happy together, maybe now they'll be happier apart. Change can be good.
Look at Welling. He shook off Smallville, took a break, and having just seen Parkland, I can say tha111ct he probably now has a career in film in front of him. He was a bad actor on Smallville (that show was NOT conducive to developing talent) - but in Parkland he was
good
. He seems to be "reinventing" himself, for lack of a better word, and doing a damn fine job of it. Good luck to him - the more successful he is as an actor, the more that means I get to stare at his stupidly beautiful face on screen, and in the end, that's what matters, heh.
