I was just going through Lostpedia's season 4 spoilers and an interview that Cuse and Lindelof did sparked an interest in Libby (Watros' character who's now dead). They speculated that they'll get to Libby's back story through another character's flashback, someone who isn't among the current cast. That means a new character would have also known Libby in addition to Desmond, Hurley, and Eko. Watros said her death wasn't the last of Libby on the show.
Cuse stated that they'll get into why Libby went from stable wife to mental patient.
My theory is that Hurley being bad luck somehow killed Libby's husband on that deck he was talking about. -

yeah i've been waiting for them to explain libby's story!! i watched the comic-con and they talked a lot about her. i think she was involved with that freighter some how or with dharma (as they said wasn't far off). she popped up in several flashbacks each time looking different (but never having her own flashback). i think she may have been studying hurley 2000or some of the other losties but was killed prematurely. she kept emphasizing that she's a clinical psychologist at times doubting herself. i can't wait for her story to be told!!!

well, they confirmed it in the last podcast!! libby will return and have her story explained in season four :)!!!
i've been working up other theories concerning her husband too. her husband's name was david and hurley's hallucination was dave. i'm not sure if it was debunked but could they be somehow related? i think it would be interesting if dave was a real person and then haunted hurley after dying.
libby mentioned to desmond that he died of an illness. could he have been on the island during the purge or possibly "the incident"?? cuse and lindelof says libby being a part of dharma wasn't too far off so that may be it right there! how fitting for his boat "the elizabeth" (desmond's boat) to make it to the island where he may have died. -

I think you could be on to something there jonny.
Libby, too, is one of my favourite LOST characters, especially since her whole story is shrouded in mystery. Please say that you care or say that you think that im beautiful -Elizabeth Short, The Black Dahlia

spoilers i guess
apparently she will show up in episode eight of season four.
The episode "meet kelvin johnson" is supposedly michael centric.
I have no idea when where or how her character shows up in this episode, but I hope it's true.

Are those two VERY brief hallucinations Michael had of Libby in "Meet Kevin Johnson" all we'll get to see of her this season? Season 4 was supposed to explain how she was in mental hospital. Has the strike canceled this? Too bad

I don't think she's dead
I mean, I know she died, but somehow, with the wonder of time travel, I think she's still alive and used astral projection when she talked to Michael on the boat
hey, it's Lost, stranger has happened
