Archived from the IMDb Discussion Forums — Eamonn Walker

Anyone else that this guy was over acting the entire series of oz?. There were a few moments where he felt genuine, but mostly it was hard to watch. Not to mention that the character itself is annoying.

Not really. I felt like he put forth the sort of dialect and performance that a guy like that would. Look at other very showy civil rights leaders and the way they conduct themselves. Kareem Said is a very proud character that has an excess of self confidence. I think Walker did a great job and Said was one of the better characters on the series. Plenty of other performers overacted on the show (especially midway when the writing took a dip in quality) but I wouldn't accuse Walker of it.

While I do feel he portrayed the same sort of over confidence beep that real "leaders" do. I still h16d0ad a hard time watching him. I understand his influences for the role, but I honestly feel like he took it a step too far with the facial expressions and vocal tones. That is just my opinion though. I feel he a great actor, I just think he over did it in oz. Also, I am not saying that other characters didn't over act, I am saying because of his character and the things he was portraying, it made it cringe worthy for me.

I disagree with you. He made me want to stick to my beliefs with this much conviction.

Yes I've said it before he "overacts". Especially in Chicago fire. I've been told it's because he has an accent however when you watch other actors, Hugh Jackman, jesse Spenser, charlie hunnam, who all have heavy accents in real life, their acting is great. I just think he's an "Over-Actor !
