Archived from the IMDb Discussion Forums — Tim Thomerson

He is totally the only actor that i think could ever replace the great Darren Mcgavin as The Nightstalker. Certainly better then Stuart Townsend. what a waste of an oppurtunity
Some call it arson, I call it fate.

I agree. Tim Thomerson would be great as Kolchak.
I write bios, therefore I am.

Tim Thomerson would be a good casting choice, but I think Bryan Cranston would be ideal. He has the look and the mannerisms of Darren McGavin. Both would be good choices.

I disagree and it seems like I'm the only dissenting voice. Don't get me wrong I love Tim Thomerson, but yet at the same time I was a kid who loved the "Night Stalker" and have seen ever single episode first run when it was airing on tv during my childhood. Darren made the role, no one could replace him and trust me I didn't pay much attention to when they tried to remake it, because I knew I wasn't going to bother watching it but yeah Townsend was a suprise choice, and he really doesn't do that much tv which is more suprising. But Thomerson as a natural for the role? Naw, I respect those of you who think so but I can't see it. It's not his kind of vehicle. McGavin and Tim are as far apart as you can get, he doesn't have the looks and mannerisms as you claim that McGavin had.

I did't say Thomerson had the same look and mannerisms as McGavin, I said Bryan Cranston does. I think he can pull it off, but it's just me saying it, it's not like I'm the person that is going to make it happen. But, I hear what you say. No one can replace McGavin.
