Archived from the IMDb Discussion Forums — Inga Swenson

Ms. Swenson is AMAZING in The Miracle Worker. Her love for her daughter, Helen, is so tangible. She portrays motherly love and hope and joy and dismay in such a way that it is very real. I was touched beyond words at her acting, and often just wept with her performance. When I came to look her up, I was very surprised to see the other shows I knew her from: Taxi, Benson and others. What a fine actress, and so, so lovely. I thank her for her work.

Inga was brilliant in that as well as in North and South.

I saw Inga today in a 1962 Bonanza episode. In a flashback told by Ben to Hoss, she's travelling West in a covered wagon with husband Ben Cartwright and his young son Adam and she gives birth to baby Hoss. She really did look radiant as a new mother holding that baby. Then she gets shot by Indians with an arrow in the back. Before she dies she urges Ben to fulfill their dream of making a new home and raising their family. Very emotional stuff even after 55 years.
