I've just seen American History X and he played 'Seth'. He was awful, and it as though he was reading straight off the script, the hatred he was meant to portray was totally unconvincing and looked even worse compared To Edward Norton and Edward Furlongs performances.
Anyone agree? -

Yeah I agree with Marti. They don't think any of it is wrong, its a game to them. No-one hates all the time, who wants to see cliched roles in such an amazing film. Ethan is a great guy and actor, and he really played the part well. Because he was a semi nice guy, he made you want to be liked by him because thats in his nature. He added depth to the film.

Nah not at all beano jack. think he's got a good serious & convincing side as well as a comedic side he played in my name is earl as randy. i give the guy a hell of a lot of credit as well for all the weight he took off. not easy at all especially being heavy myself.

I personally think he plays a character type very well. He just has that vacant expression that just reads dumb. I haven't seen American History X but he's played a guy with low intelligence in pretty much every role I've seen him in and I imagine it would look out of place in my mind if he all of a sudden played a smarter character. That's typecasting for you
