This isn't Jenifer Gardner as Marple bad but I hope it's a joke like the Amber Tamblyn MSW reboot.
The show will "revolve around a hospital administrator/amateur detective (Spencer) who self-publishes her first mystery novel. It's set in a day where sensational headlines fuel the news and focuses on a the character's fascination with true crimes, which propels her to become an active part of the investigations." -

I think the idea is okay, but why not just change the title? If you're going to re-imagine a show, then you should re-imagine the title too. That's why some shows fail because a lot of people expect it to be a mirror of what it was when it really isn't. The actress would be perfect for that role - I can totally see her in it, but the title needs to change so the show can be hers.
