    I'm told on the unde1c84rground grapevine that he didn't really leave the show, he was eased out, because he wasn't any good true??

      He was only on a 6-month contract to start with and it was decided this would not be renewed.

        Utter nonsense. I saw the show and found, surprisingly so, Mel Smith to be a fine actor and singer.

            I would imagine he probably is a good singer. Remember he had to sing in a number of different styles throughout the run of NTNON.
