What years was Tava a host on the local Chicago PBS show 'Wild Chicago'?
She was so great on that show - my brother and I would look forward to seeing her spot every week.

Yes Tava Smiley was on "Wild Chicago" from 1994-2003 although Wild Chicago started broadcasting on WTTW Ch.11 in 1988.
I agree her performance was rather special and welcoming. (I don't know what it is about her I think it was her killer smile though.)
I lived in Chicago from 1993-2001, and as a newbie to the city, "Wild Chicago" was a great introduction to the city, and became a Sunday night ritual for me.
I actually found a lot of great hangouts, thrift stores, restaurants, bars, clubs, museums, etc., just by watching that show on WTTW Ch. 11 every Sunday night. (Those were the days when I lived a one room studio in Lincoln Park, hanging on to life livin' on a prayer, trying to squeeze every drop out of it.)
