Anyone else think he would have been good as Phil on Modern Family?

I just started watching Modern Family, and it is very good. In every one of Phil's (Ty Burrell's) scenes, I can't help but think Showalter would have been better in that role. I like Ty, but I think Mike would have been way funnier.
