Archived from the IMDb Discussion Forums — Tom Everett Scott

In this weeks issue, in their review of "Cashmere Mafia", they call Tom "charmless". Huh? I've liked him ever since "That Thing You Do". He seems charming to me!

I also read this ridiculous comment in my TV Guide today. Tom Everett Scott is one
of the most charming actors ever to hit the large and/or small screen. He is
also a good actor with a natural unaffected manner. Yes, he has been in a some
projects that didn't do particularly well in the ratings. A number of fine
actors have appeared in poorly received and/or rated projects over the years.
      Some examples:

      1. George Clooney: He appeared in a number of failed pilots as well as some hit
television series (Roseanne, for example) where his character was dropped or
failed to catch on for some reason. I think that a large number of women (and
quite a few men) would certainly not call Mr. Clooney "charmless."
      2. Jason Gedrick: Why this handsome, talented actor cannot find a successful
series or at least one big theatrical film, escapes me. He has such talent and
makes each character he plays interesting and memorable.
      3. Robert Urich: This late, great actor and man (I met him personally twice)
surely must hold the record for television series and pilots that failed to
catch on. He did have some hits (Vega$), but was also fondly remembered for
his many made-for-television and cable films by his many fans. Mr. Urich was
certainly a very handsome and charming man.
Well, there you have it. I hope the TV Guide writer will have the decency to to
        retract this absurd remark.
