Now that the cinematic Wolverine is indelibly Hugh Jackman, watching Hemlock Grove reminded me about Dougray Scott's chance at almost being Wolvie instead. At least he still got some screen time with Famke Janssen (and a girl with a white streak in her hair!). I'm wondering if Dougray would've been able to give us the grumpy Wolverine from the comics, old man Logan, and a more feral, animalistic characterization. I like Hugh Jackman, but I think that's the problem. He's just such a nice guy that it seeps into all his portrayals of Wolverine. He seems like Logan-lite, even the crazy comic head and facial hair is always clean and neat and mutantly metrosexual. Even when he's angry, he doesn't seem like a threat, or there doesn't seem to be any air of danger that he might go too far. I dunno. Like I said, musings on things I have no control over. Back to work.
