Archived from the IMDb Discussion Forums — Ja Rule

    Svperstar — 20 years ago(April 08, 2006 02:29 AM)

So at one point Ja Rule was considered a great rapper and sold millions of CDs. Then he gets in an argument with a 50 Cent and now hes a "Wanksta" and gets no respect at all. There are still some loyal fans but he is nowhere near as popular and in many rap circles he is a joke.
How can anyone say rap is a real music art form when all it takes is an argument with another rapper to ruin an entire career? Not to mention how interchangable all rappers are. The style of dress is almost 100% identical between Ja Rule, 50 Cent, and the rest. The lyrics are all the same(I'm a thug, I've been to jail, I got hos, I got money, I smoke weed, blah blah blah blah blah).
With all these stupid feuds between rappers, shooting, an5b4d other crap it is obvious rap culture isn't an art forum, it is a circus sideshow.

Well the problem with the Jehovah Witness rapper was he never lived what he rapped about. He was to busy going door to door.

I don't blame Ja Rule for arguing with 50 Cent. How could you get into an arguement with a undergroud rapper and then a few years later loose all of that respect by getting into that aultercation? I point blame to Eminem for allowing 50 to release his diss records at Ja Rule. That's how he lost respect. How is Ja Rule fronting when he showed his real feelings at 50 Cent when his chain got stollen. 50 Cent has no loyalty and he's winning this beef. I happen to be a loyal fan of Ja Rule and everybody in his clique. Theres no way 50 Cent could get way popular then Ja Rule. That can take a decade for it to happen. It was 4 years back then and now it's 7 years. Ja Rule has to do something to get on top.

Christ, look into the art form before you start pissing all over it

If you don't like Ja Rule or 50 cent, because you think that all rap is the same old garbage, check out Fort Minor (Mike Shinoda of Linkin Park). He's one of my top 5 because he doesn't just rap about bubble gum.

JA RULE is wack! 50 cent is more authentic than Ja Rule. he is no one hes from Hollis, Queens - the gayest neighborhood of all. hes not a gangsta he stopped rapping and starting singing R&B - what he should have been doing in the first place because he is weak as hell. he will always be a joke FOREVER along with his wack ass MURDER INC crew. what the hell do they know about murder? wanksters

This is one of the reasons why I don't care much for rap these days. I, at one point, was one of 50's followers in this beef with Ja, but then I noticed a lot of people on the 16d0internet diss the hell of Ja, because they all jumped on the bandwagon and couldn't think for themselves. After that, I regained the respect I had for Ja before, and I still have respect for him. Sure, I will say that when he started doing R&B songs, that ruined his credibility, but Venni Vetti Vecci will always be considered his best album, and I heard some positive things about R.U.L.E., and after a while, I started losing touch with 50, and to this day, I still don't care for him. Ever since 2003, rap has been hitting lows, well actually it kind of has been that way for a while, starting in 2002, the last year when it had SOME good hip-hop. Anyway, for years now, rap has been nothing but crappy. It's either about how hard you are or how rich you are and the beats, than rhymes. It's stupid.

Please stick to what you know. An argument didn't ruin his career, but you could've applied this "logic" to the Dixie Chicks and country music a couple years ago.
