He was essentially portrayed as an utterly asexual character. Then she reveals it after the books are all out. She clearly did not really include anything to that effect in the actual text. This means there's no risk of people who dislike him being gay being able to ignore it, much like the average portrayal of gay characters on TV as asexual for the most part. They're there to help the straight people out who do have relationships, but they themselves remain comfortably outside of all of that sort of th2000ing so nobody has to be faced with the reality of being gay. Dumbledore could have been attracted to My Little Pony for all the difference it made, because as I've said before, there's no real evidence to it and he obviously at the time of the books and for what everyone saw of him, was an asexual old man.
In a sense, it's a half-assed way to include gay people. If you want to have a gay character, make him gay, show he's gay, don't just say he's gay, in a nutshell. I fully support including more gay characters in literature, but don't use blatant tokenism. It's like the Magical Negro (actual name I'm not trying to offend
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Magical_Negro
) trope that people abuse and then they wonder why people might consider it racist. Well, maybe because it's an equally overused stereotype to represent black people in fiction that avoids the richness of the actual human experience just so you can easily say you included a positive example of a certain underrepresented group. It's lazy, cowardly, and offensive.

No I do not support him being gay. Homosexuality is wrong. its a lifestyle that people choose. no one is born to be homosexual. people choose to sleep and have romantic relationship with another and that is why it is a choice. God and nature created men and women to be comparable with each other that is why one men and women exist and we should start promoting this truth. While I will never want any homosexual to be bullied or killed, I also think we also need to tell people the truth on this issue. homosexuality is not a lifestyle hat should be encourage.
I admire JK Rowling's artistic brilliance and unique talent in the world of writing but I disagree with her on dumbledore being gay. he should not have -

Okay, then. Hey, gay people! Stop being gay! You want to stop being oppressed? Then stop being gay!
I say it's good that they didn't outright state that Dumbledore was gay in the books. I hate it when gay characters remind people that they're gay. I'm looking at you, writers of "Glee."
