I liked him much better than the puppet of the TV show, which could be kind of annoying at times. Sir Ralph's interpretation in the 1972 film of TALES FROM THE CRYPT seems to be based more on the earliest concept of the character as seen in CRIME PATROL, before CK appeared in CRYPT OF TERROR and of course, TALES FROM THE CRYPT, in that it is somewhat more somber. However, I thought he did put the right amount of glee in his portrayal when CK tells his "guests" "I assure you I have a purpose!"
If you're familiar with the surprise ending of this film, you know what that purpose was! If not, watch this outstanding film of the EC horror comic by director Freddie Francis.
Incidentally, I've read that this was his personal favorite role in a film!
