In a huge moment in British social policy, MPs have voted in favour of a bill to legalise assisted dying in England and Wales . The historic vote, by 330 in favour to 275 against, comes after five hours of passionate debate during which MPs shared personal stories, while those against the bill called for better end-of-life care. The bill passing the first stage in the Commons means it will be followed by months of parliamentary scrutiny and approval before it becomes law

Personally I am in favour of assisted dying but there are certainly genuine and deeply felt opinions on the other side. Surveys have shown the UK public two thirds in favour.
I think you'll find things are a little more complicated than that. -

I think one of the issues with the currently proposed legislation in the UK is that many terminal cases will die before their assisted suicide has time to be approved. I imagine any law will need to be revised to be more humane as time goes on.

The tradition in the UK is for English politicians not voting in regards to legislation that only concerns Scotland, and vice versa, I believe.

yeah but it wont take effect until 2027 for some odd reason, so the people who are currently suffering and want to die will have to continue suffering.
Is anyone actually AGAINST this tho? like who the **** is sitting there saying that someone with a very bad condition that makes life pointless HAS to suck it up and live it? who the **** is this offending?
The UK is not an over-religious country like America as far as I know.
The same people who are against assisted dying are probably the same people who complain about sick people being on the benefit system
