Archived from the IMDb Discussion Forums — Edmund Purdom

    Just watched "The Beauty Jungle".
I was struck by Edmund Purdom's striking resemblance to Rock Hudson. Same hair style same steel jaw.
Made me wonder why Purdom didn't become a major filmstar.

erm.possibly his lack of acting talent?
      Don't touch that!
      Why Not?
      It does very bad things

It was obvious too that Purdom was playing a Rock Hudson type character. He was matinee idol Rex Carrington. Often pictured with nubile attractive women.
But when Janette Scott offers herself to him after the party where she is waiting for him on the bed. Purdom (Carrington) says he is strictly for looking at and it is obvious he is not sexually interested in women.

every time I've seen British Prime Minister Gordon Brown, I think "hey, he looks exactly like Edmund Purdom!".
Who else is with me on that one?

You must be joking!!!! There is absolutely no resemblance at all. Mr Brown does not even have the same shaped face as Edmund Purdom, not even when he was younger.
            Greetings

              Joking Schmoking,
              Gordon Brown:

              Edmund Purdom:

Don't you see a certain resemblance? Maybe if you cross-bred Purdom with Gabriel Byrne you'd get Brown's exact double
