Archived from the IMDb Discussion Forums — Brian Posehn

    hijackblue — 19 years ago(March 20, 2007 05:39 PM)

Posehn would play a middle aged loser who has dreamed of being in a heavy medal band ever since he was a kid. Just when he is fired from his job and his grandmother who's house he lives in is killed in a crazy accident, he reads that the world's most famous heavy medel band is killed in a plane crash or something. With that band dead, there is an open spot in the annual "Medel Fest" in Idaho. Posehn decides to put togeather hs own heavy medel band, and audition for the spot. He then reunites his best friends from high school as he convinces them to be in his band. The band would consist of Posehn as the lead singer, his old friend and unhappy suburban dad (played by Jay Johnson) on drums, his other freind, a nerdy duns and dragons and star treak freak (played by Patton Oswalt) on keyboard, and a mysteorious ex-criminal that they met at a gas station (played by Paul Rudd, or Dax Sheaperd, or someone younger) on lead guitar. The film would follow the band on their rise to glory, and ends with them playing Medel Fest. Jack Black, Bob Odnekirk, and all those guys would also have cameos. David Cross might play and evil hippie who hates Posehn for something that happened in high school, and he would try and stop them.

Sounds like a great idea - Im a fan of all those people, but one question (not to be a dick) why do you keep saying "medel" instead of metal?

I am going to steal this idea, write a script, make a lot of money, and not give you any of it. Thanks!
