Archived from the IMDb Discussion Forums — Rupert Penry-Jones

    Archwood — 18 years ago(October 31, 2007 02:32 PM)

Rupe is now officially off the market. He's finally confirmed that he and Dervla married in August.
Congratulations Rupert and Dervla and condolences to those who are mourning.

Congrats to the (relatively) newly weds.
One of the local PBS stations showed Casanova over the weekend and I was reminded Dervla played Casanova's mother. Must have been nice to spend some time in Venice (or reasonable facimile thereof) as a couple, but that was two years ago or more.

It's interesting how many people today get married AFTER they've had children.

"well..yeah. its beginning to become the norm of society dont you think."
Depends what society you are talking about. It certainly isn't outside of Britain, yet. Nor is divorce

Dervla strikes me as her own woman, not that he probably didn't have the guts, she called the shots possibly (in a nice way of course). As well as the structure of the family changing or changed so has the role of women, to some extent.

Actually, divorce, cohabitation before marriage and having children outside of wedlock has become very common all over the western world, including in other European countries and in North America.
The reason I have an interest in this subject is because I work in family law and although I don't think everybody has to be "old-fashioned", there are studies that show the rate of breakup is higher if you live together and have kids before getting married. It is more stable to have the commitment first.
