According to the Omaha World Herald, Alexander Payne and Jim Taylor are currently working on a script for a comedy/sci-fi movie which may start filming in 2008. Some of the movie would be filmed in Omaha and he is writing with two particular actors in mind: Paul Giamatti and Javier Bardem.

"What else can you tell me about this film? Do you know when filming is scheduled to begin? I am a film student in Lincoln Nebraska and would love to get involved with this project."
Ah, you Nebraska folk. God bless ya!

According to a piece in today's Omaha World-Herald, Mr. Payne is working on the screenplay (with Jim Taylor), and it probably won't be ready to start filming until this fall.

I've read about it, but I think Payne has perfectionist tendencies, so when he is writing/directing a movie, he wants it to be perfect. That doesn't count times when he is 16d0a writer for a movie that either he doesn't direct or ultimately his screenplay isn't the one used (think Chuck and Larry). Quality is better than quantity. Plus he is producing more projects now and doing more hands off stuff. However, I'm definitely looking forward to his next film that he writes/directs.
