Married to Whitman Mayo?

I have a friend who insists that Page was once married to Whitman Mayo, "Grady" on "Sanford and Son". I think I remember seeing them together in an issue of "Jet", but I don't think it said they were married. Maybe they were just dating. Does anyone know if they were hitched?
