Dear Mr.O'Halloran,
Hello.I only recently discovered that as well as being a fine actor you were also a very good boxer who with a bit of luck, might have had a crack at the World Championship back in the 70s,when there were so many great Heavyweights. My question is:what is your opinion on the current dismal state of US heavyweight boxing? And why has it deteriorated so quickly and catastrophically?I mean from the 1950s to the mid 90s every heavyweight champ was a Yank(No offence). Now the situation is so bad that Holyfield is still probably the best current US heavyweight, and he was at the 84 Olympics! Why the sudden collapse?Thank you. -

Thank you for replying.I think you are probably right-American youngsters prefer to enter less strenuous(and dangerous) sports than boxing-as you state the financial rewards are only available to a very select few, whereas there are hundreds of well paid Footballers,Basketball pros,Baseball pros, tennis pros etc. Even golf has literally hundreds of millionaires.
