No Jack in Man of Steel? REALLY?

Obviously Jack O'halloran is still involved in the Superman franchise. You can see he just recently provided the voice of the shuttle commander in a Superman video game. Nobody expected Jack to reprise his roll of Non, although we all know he could if he needed to. Yet, honestly who else involved in the last Superman flicks would be better for a cameo than Jack??
It makes me think the Man of Steel fillm makers are going to great lengths to distance themselves from the previous Superman incarnations. Yeah those movies saccharinly sweet and at times painfully campy, but that's the reason why the people who grew up with them (like me) love them so much. Just because its a reboot doesn't mean you should forget where you came from. How could 10 seconds of Jack playing a gas station attendant or the principal of Smallville High School do anything but make us smile? Nobody but fans would realize the charm of Jack O'Halloran doing a cameo, and the fact that he wasn't involved makes me feel the makers of Man of Steel must be pretty disconnected to the mythology that surrounds Superman. -

Get over it dude. Superman II was over 30 years ago. There's no reason to keep putting actors from previous versions in new installments. Then it just becomes The Expendables with all the cameos and it takes away from the story. Man of Steel is a more down to earth take on the Superman movies just like The Dark Knight franchise did for Batman. Besides there will be more Superman movies so if they so wish, you may see Jack and maybe Sarah and Terence in bit parts if they so wish to appear.

I would be okay with a more down to earth version of Superman if I cared about the characters. The problem with the new movie is I honestly could not care about Superman or Lois in it. They just seem so cardboard.
