Archived from the IMDb Discussion Forums — Renee O'Connor

    marclem — 19 years ago(March 20, 2007 09:42 AM)

What is it about Renee that makes her so interesting? I really could care less about celebrities in general, and though I enjoyed the show, I wouldn't even say I was even a Xena fan particularly. Lucy Lawless is fine, but just another actress to me. There's just something about Renee's cute little smile and ponytail (I hated the shorthair/tattoo Gabrielle), her bright engaging eyes, and that fetching little Gabrielle outfit that would make me look at her over any starlet like Paris Hilton, Scarlett Johanssen or whatever big name you could choose.

                    strong, yet incredibly feminine
I never get why people say that. Strong but feminine? Its like they're saying strength isn't a feminine quality. Strength has no gender. Its like saying that guy is shy but masculine. One doesn't have anything to do with the other.

Depends if they're talking about MENTAL strength or PHYSICAL strength.

It can depend on the womanlook for example at some of the women on those bodybuilding magazines. I know some guys are into that 16d0sort of look, but 99% that I've ever mentioned it to say the manner in which their breasts disappear into pectoral muscles and so forth are really unpleasant. Very few guys want to be with a girl who can break them in half with one arm, in most cases guys equate feminine with nurturingit's something that's developed since prehistoric times, the males penchant for lower voice, increased size, hair growth on higher percentage of the body, square shoulders and so forth place males classically within the role of "protective", and that's still the case. Women TEND to gravitate towards males they feel safe and secure with, males TEND to gravitate towards women to whom they feel protectivewe actually spent a good month of psych dealing with sexual development in this areaIt's not a rule of course, but in MOST cases a woman who's ridiculously strong is going to have a more difficult time finding a male who's attracted to her than someone who's got Renee's build.

Hardly any man likes bodybuilder women, hardly any woman likes bodybuilder men.
I dont see much of an issue to explain there.
Especially not an explanation based on some more or less correct theories about how our anchestors may or may not have lived in the past. Our brain is more than able enough to overcome most of these instincts anyway.
So its just ugly if you're all muscles. It also doesnt give you much of an advantage in respect to surviveability either, by the way, as these people lack the necessary body fat for longer action, while having extremely raised consumption. In other words, they are extremely badly equipped to survive any kind of famines.

Anyone who's beautiful inside and out is bound to draw attention. Renee's really great. I totally loved her on the show (long hair or not), and she sounds like she's a pretty amazing person all around so admiration is totally understandable.I'm glad she's gonna be in movies again, good for her.
