How come he's been in so many movies and tv series and barely anyone knows of him? He's such a great actor and deserves more attention!!

I totally agree, I personally think his best performence was The Brother From Another Planet. Not many people can pull off a totally silent performence.

I agree 100%. I've been a fan of his work since seeing him in T2, and I always enjoy his performances, in everything from Speed to City of Hope to What Lies Beneath. He reminds me of a young Sidney Poitier in the way he projects emotional power yet an underlying decency and intelligence.
How long does this guy's work have to be ignored before someone gives him a role like Don Cheadle and Jamie Foxx got last year, a role that will finally get him noticed?

            Hey Khep,
That's just the way hollywood works. Guys like Colin Farrell, Tom Cruise and Brad Pitt get all the leading man roles, essential238y playing the same character over and over (with some notable exceptions), while character actors like Joe Morton (any untold others) are relgated to backup roles. This despite the fact that Morton is equally believable as the devils assistant in Crossroads as he is as a scientist in Terminator II and as the commanding officer/Colonel in Lonestar. It's the same scenario with actors like Gary Oldman, who can play any role (wanabe black pimp in True Romance to Dracula) and play it well. He to is rarely used as a leading man.

Ok, I'll give you Colin Farrell and Tom Cruise. But not Brad Pitt. Kalifornia, Snatch, Fight Club, Se7en, Interview With the Vampire, Sleepers, True Romance, Ocean's 11/12 (look at his performance, not necessarily the movie as a whole).
What does he have to do for you guys to take him seriously as an actor?
But back on topic Joe Morton is a great actor, and I always enjoy seeing him onscreen.
And Kudos on bringing up Gary Oldman. He's one of those actors, where you can watch three of his movies back to back to back, and if you didn't already know it was him in the movies, than you wouldn't know it was him in those movies.

yeah i've actually known joe morton for most of my life, we're pretty familiar with each other. He was even there for my birth, crazy!! anyway yeah he's a great actor and most people say I look a lot like him so thanks for the compliment haha. I'm an aspiring actor myself, even though I'm only 17, but he's really helping me to get my career started. I know him pretty well so next time I see him I'll tell him all the great things that you guys are saying, I'm sure he will appreciate it.

I sent you a private message, not sure if you got it. I'm trying to contact Joe for a part I think he'd be perfect for in a script I've written. But I don't want to go through his agent because they're notorious for deflecting any inquiries unless it's through power players in hollywood. The role is PERFECT for Joe and I believe he'll like it, but I need to get it to him somehow. Is there any way you can help me out?

And I thought that I was one of the few who thought so! I think I like his face even more as he is getting older. And, boy, am I jealous of this, because I don't think anyone is saying that about ME! (smile)
Yes, this guy is great, and lovely, and I believe he is a person of substance . . . so refreshing in our current world. I do enjoy hearing that others feel the same way about him, and I do hope that he is getting the message that there are people out there that respect him and his work, and yes, even think he is hot.
My only regret is that I never get enough of him!

You're also forgetting 12 Monkeys (where he was Oscar nominated). Funny that Joe Morton is a serious actor who's name remains somewhat under the radar, but Pitt is internationally known and is rarely taken seriously as an actor. And check out another Oldman-type actor, Cliff Curtis (Whale Rider, Training Day, Three Kings, Bringing Out The Dead).

Brad Pitt is a great actor but he still gets way too many roles just for the box office effect. In general, he plays the same character in most of his movies with some exceptions for which he deserves great credit. Other then that I have a lot of respect for him.

Pitt's a great actor, Se7en, Fight Club & Benjamin Button were his best in my opinion. But for Joe, I hold him in the same respect as Charles S. Dutton & Gary Oldman, all just great in any role.
