Kudos to Florida Gov. Charlie Crist for seeing this issue through. It remained a blemish against Jim Morrison but also the state of Florida.
EDIT: In hindsight, it really was much more of a blemish against Florida rather than Morrison, but yes, we can all move on now. -

I kinda' wish they'd just left well enough alone. That 1970 IE rap added to what was, is, and always will be part of the mystique of Jim Morrison. Next thing you know, we'll learn how he secretly went to Sunday School every week
"When I was back there in seminary school, there was a person there who put forth the proposition, that you can petition the Lord with prayer!"

That 1970 IE rap added to what was, is, and always will be part of the mystique of Jim Morrison.
You can still have some of that mystique: the concert did happen, Morrison was late and drunk, he tried to turn the concert into some like of 'live theater' interactive experience, and he indeed stripped down to his underwear, threatened to expose himself, and danced with the revelers.
But he did not actually expose himself, and the law should make that fact clear. The job of the law is not to worry about mystique. -

I first posted this ("
FL Clemency Board unanimously pardons Jim after 4 decades!
") under "
The Doors (1991)
" movie, but it may be deleted by an administrator as "off topic".
Dec 9, 2010 Tallahassee: Sponsored by outgoing Governor Charles Crist on behalf of James Douglas Morrison, the other 3 members of the Board voted along with the governor to pardon the Doors singer/songwriter from his two misdemeanor convictions Sep 20, 1970 for the alleged charges on the counts of profanity and indecent exposure Mar 1, 1969 at The Doors concert at Coconut Grove's Dinner Key Theater in Miami, FL.
Here's some recent YouTube videos compiled from attendees' recordings in the public gallery during the proceedings. The first one is a 2-minute summary, while the other longer multi-part segments have some interesting details worth their complete viewing. It is interesting to note the Governor's comments that since Jim died while his conviction was officially under appeal, his family could have petitioned the court to have his conviction expunged from his personal records under the prevailing law at that time. One wonders why that did not transpire, which certainly would have been preferable to a pardon, and when the clock ran out on that option
