any Liza fanataics out there? has Liza ever paid tribute to her mom? I'm really curious why she's done her dad, her godmother, but not her MOTHER?
the only thing i can think of, she doesn't wanna use her mom, cuz lets face it, her mother is a freakin legend. ??????? -

She did in a way with Minnelli on Minnelli. That aside, though, I think the comparison is already there, and a lot of people already think that she has the career she has because of her mother, so why reinforce that?

cuz when she did the concert about kay thompson's work, she was so over the moon about it and her. And then when she did Minnelli on Minnelli-c'mon. I just find it odd how she's never really paid a full concert tribute to her mom's work. I bet she never will too, as she's already up there in age.
I just found it odd. I really think she's afraid to touch her mom's work, which is understandb68able. -

when she was a guest on AMC, the guy asked her why she really hasn't paid tribute to her mom and she said something like "i want to do it right," but i doubt she will ever do one. and yes, her voice is already eh. she should have done it in her 30's.

She said "her songs have already been sung"
She saw the dark side of Judy more then her siblings almost, or at least she remembered happier ones better. That I think she isn't afraid of the songs as mic as she feels it isn't her place. Lorna made a show, but Liza PERFORMED with her. I think that was a tribute enough, and she's been compared to her her entire life that all it would turn into is a contest and that's not what Liza or Judy would want -

While she on occasion will sing a Judy song, Liza believes that no one other than Judy should do Judy. Several interviews with Liza state this she also says that Judy told her to be herself.
Lorna doing a full on show more than likely was all about money. She has talent but lets be real, Lorna is known as the other daughter where as Liza is Liza. Liza doesn't have to use her mother's name to sell seats where as Lorna does.

Enough attention is still paid to Judy 46 years after her death, and other than mentions in the "That's Entertainment!" series and the documentary narrated by Liza, very little has been done on him other than his own autobiography and a career tribute book to him, so perhaps that's why Liza chooses to place attention where attention should be placed. Liza was once questioned by a very tacky Howard Stern on camera as to why the gay men love her mom. She was obviously annoyed, but being the classy lady she is simply stated, "Perhaps it's because they have good taste!". Whatever demons she may or may not have with her mother's memory is her business. Liza never refuses to discuss her; She just doesn't obsess on it. Yes, she knows the legacy of her family has perhaps opened a few doors, but if she didn't have the talent and drive to make it on her own, she wouldn't have all her awards. And certainly,b68 she hasn't worked all these years because of awards; Like her mother, she does love her audience, and also like her mother, she lives her life with a huge sense of humor while anybody weaker would have had a nervous breakdown over. Considering how many people out there just seem to love to hear the dirt about her, it's also important to remember all the hard work she has put into raising money for AIDS research among other issues. So all this talk about entitlement and neglect of her mother is just not valid. With Kay Thompson, Liza obviously has a special place in her heart for her; Perhaps like with Elizabeth Taylor, Lucille Ball and a few other people whom Liza has talked about, Kay was a surrogate mother for her when Judy was unavailable or after she passed away. Even adults need an occasional "mothering" every now and then. Liza's legacy won't only be in her performing history but in her undisputed humanity as well.
