Archived from the IMDb Discussion Forums — Vera Miles

Last a long time in Hollywood as a successful actress, and maybe you have a few marriages. That's OK.
Interesting with Vera Miles. After a short first marriage (where she picked up the last name Miles), Vera then married Hunk #1 (Tarzan, aka Gordon Scott, a man of Schwarzenegger-like proportions) and then Hunk #2 (Keith Larsen, strapping star of "The Aquanauts" and "Northwest Passage.") The pretty Vera seems to have liked the macho, macho men.
But aha, came 1973, the keeper of the bunch: one Bob Jones, who seems to be a successful TV and movie sound engineer of many years experience.
Geeky guys, unite! You can beat out those musclemen sometimes. Of course, maybe Mr. Jones is a hunk, too.

Hitchcock was very snide about her marrying Gordon Scott. As if any woman would prefer a strapping hunk of manhood like the current Tarzan over a fat, bald, possibly impotent old man like him.

        Oh, God, can you imagine?
I saw the best minds of my generation destroyed by madness, starving hysterical naked.

Yes, a musclebound moron always makes for a stimulating marriage partner.
