The joke is that she's too beautiful to be logically be Will Ferrel's wife but her performance goes above and beyond just being pretty.
Seriously, comedy is her calling.

Watching it right now. She's got some great comedy skills. She plays an excellent counter-point to Farrell and that makes for some different comedy inside the movie.
