Archived from the IMDb Discussion Forums — Lindsay Lohan

    TimotheusTT — 9 years ago(October 30, 2016 11:00 AM)

I think Lindsay should look at the career path Linda Blair took after The Exorcist, and remake herself as the queen of the B-movies. Linda was a highly touted actress, nominated for an academy award, who succumbed to personal demons. After getting herself together, she made fantastically bad but entertaining flicks like Chained Heat and Savage Streets. This rebirth has carried over to today, as she is a well sought after guest at numerous genre conventions. I Know Who Killed Me and The Canyons are good examples of roles Lindsay should continue pursue, as I think both will become cult classics. Hopefully, she can get her personal life under control first. After establishing a career reinvention cranking out drive-in and grindhouse style movies, Tarantino will probably put her in his latest magnum opus and bring her full circle!

I always thought Lindsay Lohan was the new Linda Blair. They have the same path.

Mischa Barton is currently doing this. I would love for Lindsay to go this route! I think it would be great for her.

She doesn't seem interested in acting anymore. I am (was?) a big fan of Lindsay but it's been 3 years since the canyons. I'm losing interest in a potential comeback.

Well, whenever she does act. People put it down. The Canyons was not a great film but she gave a good performance in it. Also, she must be tired of playing herself (Scary movie 5, Anger management, Glee etc..)

. I Know Who Killed Me and The Canyons are good examples of roles Lindsay should continue pursue, as I think both will become cult classics.
Oh god, NO. Both were critically panned. Audiences and critics alike hated both of those movies. I Know Who Killed Me actually won Lindsay a Razzie for Worst Actress. That is probably not the reputation Lindsay wants as an actress, and therefore, she should stay away from movies like that. Neither of them will be cult classics because literally nobody liked either of those movies. They were garbage. They weren't even "so bad it's good". They were just flat out bad.
And anyway, even IF Lindsay wanted to continue to do similar trashy movies like IKWKM and The Canyons, that would require her to focus and move back to LA. She keeps frolicking around in Europe, still partying and doing God knows what else. She definitely is not focused on acting right now and she doesn't seem to really care about her acting career anymore.
If she did care, she'd have to move back to LA to really start getting roles again.

cult classic - kind of meaningless term nowadays, if a movie flops, people who liked it say "oh well then it will be a cult classic"

I actually really enjoy the Canyons and IKWKM,
I honestly believe they will be cult classics because of her personal life, her above average performance in both and for the artistic directions of the films. Are they good films? Not really, but I find them highly entertaining, beautiful to look at and have great soundtracks and Lindsay does her best work in them. Especially The Canyons. I think the only bad part of the Canyons was that it didn't have a higher budget.

Only problem is that the B-movie industry is all but dead. Horror movies generally are no longer en vogue.

The Canyon is a terrible movie, like one of those early 1990's made-for-cable, straight-to-video erotic thrillers about a Guy dominating a Girl sexually, they all looked like 90 minute episodes of Silk Stalkings.
She should have not degraded herself in that beep and appear downright desperate but instead hold on
to some dignity and wait for better roles.

Who would hire her for better movies though? Recent pictures of her show the ravages of too much partying, drinking, smoking, drugs and botox on her face - and she's still doing all of those things to various degrees, meaning she's going to wreck her looks even more.
Compare a recent picture of her today with a picture of her 10 years ago and the difference is mind-boggling. Nobody is going to hire her with her face looking like it does now.
Not to mention she's a nightmare when she's on set, another reason why she's not only not getting good roles but barely anything at all.

She even blew her chance at being a B-movie actress. The New York Times Magazine was allowed to shadow the entire production of The Canyons by the director/producer of the film. He wrote a wrote a long, detailed article detailing his observations of how she made the movie go way over schedule and over budget because she kept "disappearing," throwing tantrums, and either not showing up on time for shooting, or not at all in some instances.
                                          http://www.nytimes.com/2013/01/13/magazine/here-is-what-happens-when-you-cast-lindsay-lohan-in-your-movie.html
B-movies have limited financial resources to work with. If you are going to be a "queen of the B's," you better be someone that can be depended on to show up, know your lines, and be willing to work the entire work day. She blew it..the A's kicked her to the curb years ago, and the B's are no longer interested either.
