Archived from the IMDb Discussion Forums — Larry Linville

    elita7300 — 16 years ago(August 11, 2009 09:48 PM)

Even though his character was often mean, silly and nasty, I always enjoyed the Frank Burns character. And then when I later looked him up on here, I found out the he and I share the same birthday. September 29th. Except mine is in 1962.
I know someday I'll meet him. He's up in Heaven now. God bless you, Larry!

He was my favourite on the show, and judging by some of the positive comments from so many viewers, I wasn't the only one.
I agree with most here, how Larry Linville was able to do SO much with such a one-dimensional character.
      Great actor, he is missed.

Yes he was great playing Frank Burns and I loved that character as well on the show! It was like a gotta love him character but then you have to hate him to a certain degree though. After Mr. Linville left the show I continued to watch it but I did not think it was as good as when he was on there.

I agree, in fact I always thought the show went down hill after Frank left.

Yes it did go down hill after Larry Linville left the show. He still continued to play in roles as character similar to Frank Burns though.

consistently the funniest parts the show were around scenes with Frank Burns. he was the funniest character and Larry Linville did a fantastic job bringing him to life. my favorite Frank Burns quote? " that's nothing. I once killed a gopher with a stick!"
