Just watching her in Frasier series 5
Good actress, but sorry, why get an American to play a Brit (or vice versa) unless they can do it perfectly, like Gwyneth Paltrow or Damian Lewis ? It's a shame, as it marrs her performance The accent is pretty good, but not real enough, sorry!
the worst ever cockney accent was the bloke off Neighbours many many years ago

I thought her accent was pretty poor to be honest. Most 'English' characters that have appeared on Frasier have had awful accents. Even Daphne's accent is rubbish and she's played by a Brit. Although after she hooked up with Niles in the last few series she started talking normally.

Maybe it's because she's from Essex not Manchester.
I thought it was funny that Martin is from Blackpool originally!

I saw Jane Leeves on a english talk show. She had a normal english accent. Not that annoying Manchester accent on Frasier. No offence to people from Manchester.

She sounds very Americanised to us though, she doesn't sound English.

Well if she sounds Americanised to Brits, that's because Jane Leeves has lived in the States for several years, just as her character Daphne would have, so there's nothing unrealistic about that.

She seems to have a good accent actually. She sounds almost exactly like Jean Warren.

Just watched the episode with Cynthia in and have to say I thought she was English, she did a pretty good job as far as I'm concerned. SO Much better than that actress who played Daphne's friend in the British pub episode. Yes, I am English just so you know.

JFC, what is it with you Brits? Every time anyone does an English accent one of you has to come on to complain. It's an American show, made for Americans. I've seen enough British tv to have heard some god awful American accents. Here's a hint; not all Americans have a cowboy accent.
This will be the high point of my day; it's all downhill from here.
